A sunny Spring walk on the Longshaw Estate with a quick stop to sketch Owler Tor. If you’re travelling along the A6187 from Sheffield/Fox House towards Hathersage, this gritstone tor is on your left hand side, opposite the Surprise View car park.
A lovely pair of Peak District landscape pictures to hang on your wall. Two graphite and watercolour paintings of Over Owler Tor above Hathersage and the Surprise View in the Derbyshire Peak District. These paintings are very expressive in style, with a sketch-like immediacy and muted ochre and grey tones which capture the chilly, windswept feeling of the moors in early Spring.
I have created these affordable Peak District landscape paintings using graphite and watercolour blocks on 300gsm smooth watercolour paper. Each measuring A3 (297 x 420mm) they would look great on their own or as a pair and can be easily framed yourself in standard sized frames, or framed professionally for a more personal look. A nice present for UK walkers and hikers or for anyone with connections in the Hope Valley.
For sale individually at £90 each (including free UK shipping) from my Folksy shop.
Just a quick jaunt around Longshaw estate, exploring a few paths at the Yarncliff Wood end which are less familiar to me. Had to make a decision between turning left or right at one point, and of course I chose incorrectly.
Due to some unplanned clambering and mild peril, I didn’t have the time or energy to sketch but I did get a good workout (physically and emotionally), took some photos, and I stumbled upon the remains of some old buildings and a stone waymarker which as quite interesting.
At least I’ll know which way not to go next time. I was also very grateful to my past self for packing emergency jelly babies. Must remember to replenish those for next time.
Saw a lot of colours in the landscape while I was out sketching at Ladybower! I’ve titled this Ladybower and Derwent Edge but I think that’s Whinstone Lee Tor and Lead Hill that I’ve sketched in the background. Feel free to correct me on that.
